XRP Swings Twice as Far as Bitcoin in a Day
The two coins ended the 24 hours modestly higher, but the path there looked very different.

At noon Eastern on Saturday, one crypto coin cost $1.4076 and another cost $82,976. The first is XRP, up 1.7% over the previous 24 hours. The second is Bitcoin, up 0.2% over the same period. Both ended higher, but the ride to get there wasn't the same.
A coin's "spread" over a day is the gap between its highest and lowest price, shown as a share of its price. XRP's spread was 2.4%: it traded between $1.3793 and $1.4118. Bitcoin's spread was 1.0%: it traded between $82,198 and $83,000. XRP's daily range was more than twice as wide as Bitcoin's, even though both finished the day with only small gains.
For someone new to this, a wider spread means a coin's price moves around more during a day β it can dip lower and climb higher before settling. Both coins are also measured against 25 days of history at noon: XRP was up 0.24% from its open, Bitcoin up 0.52%. The market file notes no coming window shows a lean either way.
